The Smart 3D process model and P&IDs built by A3D are powerful tools for pr delivered, client continued with his NDT inspections. Only then in using his P&IDs did they then realise the inaccuracy of his P&IDs and A3D were invited to provide advice.
A review of client’s P&ID structure and content resulted in A3D being able to convert his existing P&IDs into Autodesk Smart P&ID format. This conversion also allowed for consolidation to a piping symbols standard provided by A3D of P&ID files that had been subject of updating by various people during the life cycle of the bulk terminal. Once completed the A3D converted Smart P&ID files were now in a format that allowed A3D to run a validation check. This automatic exercise producing a report allowing A3D to cross-check both the 3D model and P&IDs to ensure they were at an as-built status. Unlike traditional 2D CAD prepared P&IDs, Smart P&IDs are built on a database allowing us to export reports. These structured reports were used to batch upload asset information into the client’s asset management system. Overall the project was completed in good time and because of our oil and gas background we were able to advise him of further applications, again saving our client time and therefore costs.

A3D recognise that any form of site work on an operating site must be subject of both RAMS along with planning documents in order to expedite an efficient and safe survey.

Register Scan Data
Once A3D has been out on site with the 3D Laser Scanners we then process the scan using faro scene software.
Auto Pipework Recognition
A3D uses pipework recognition software to pick out the spherical shapes from the point cloud data this saves valuable time modeling.

Using Autodesk's Smart P&ID software the system automatically populates the database with useful metadata, this is also supplemented with extra information such as data plate information and asset numbering.
E&I Research
A3D's instrumentation department works with our clients to find and understand their E&I systems so that the PFDs can be upgraded into a P&ID status.
Site Validation
A3D uses a unique technique of validating the new P&IDs with a combination of on-site surveying and point cloud visuals.
Project Validation
The 3D models and P&IDs are validated against each to determine their accuracy.
