From the huge amount of data captured by our 3D laser instruments, ALS have the range of processing software that allows us to quickly and accurately model out our 3D Plant Models. For processes ALS use Autodesk Plant 3D, which allows us to model out specific pipework
from all recognised piping catalogues along with specialty specifications ALS download from suppliers. Once ALS have created your 3D model, we can automatically export a full range of piping isometrics, fully dimensioned and with a full list of bill of materials as required.
Isometrics are all customised around our client’s standards including drawing sizes and borders and can be tailoured to align with NDT inspectors data entry fields.
Alternatively, ALS can offer piping orthographics, a 2D snapshot from the 3D model that holds more information including surrounding features to add clarity. The greatest benefit though, is that we can reduce to around 10-20% , the total number of piping isometrics required to cover any process
you will be left with a fully functioning 3D model, which can later be used for projects clash detection and asset / document management integration.
pOINT CLOUD EXAMPLE
The Point cloud is used to create a 3D spec-driven model, from the model we can then produce orthographics and other forms of 2D docmentation depending upon clients request.
Obtaining NDT documents is alot easier when extracting them from a 3D model traditional methods would have taken a lot of time to walk the lines to gather the data.
Orthographic’s are gaining popularity recently with our clients and are taking over isometric drawings as it leaves the client with a 2D representation of the 3D model, they’re easier to use and reduce the amount of files needed compared to isometrics.
The inspection drawings will relate to the 3D model so any changes made out on site can be made to the model, which will then update the NDT drawings. Improving the clients sites documents consistency.

No the isometrics are converted from a model, Once you have a model you are able to obtain isometrics, Orthographics ETC.
Can you use our borders and symbols?
We can use your borders and symbols what ever work we carry out will be consistent whether we use ALS symbols or a particular clients.
Should I use isometrics or Orthographics?
Orthographics are easier for operators to read and offer the same information.
Can your isos show weld lines?
