3D MODELLING

Created directly from 3D laser scan data, 3D models are gaining in popularity as they offer many further benefits to our clients. The 3D model file can be exported in a variety of 2D design file formats for clients engineering contractors. Based around all mainstream pipe specifications, in developing our 3D models we are in effect building a catalogue of pipework, flanges, valves fittings and pipe supports. This enables ALS to export 3D drawings in a variety of formats that include the valuable information included within catalogue.

3D models are being produced for a variety of deliverables. Building models have been used to develop designs for replacement pipework requiring foundation details including elevations. Where new equipment replaces old so the model can be updated to reflect the changes beforehand, identifying potential clashes and highlighting the positioning of services. 3D models focusing on pipework systems have been built in order to export 2D ‘Orthographic’ inspection drawings for client’s Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSRs) and Ageing Plant.

AUTODESK NAVISWORKS

With freely available systems such as Autodesks Navisworks, companies no longer need to spend out big money to be able to view and measure 3D models.

ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

ALS process models can also be used as a basis of an engineering management system, recording individual asset information on a viewing platform that allows client’s operations to identify easily, individual site assets without the need to leave their offices. The extent to which information is linked is entirely at the client’s discretion and as editing is via recognisable drop down menus, does not require the specialised resources and training normally associated with asset management systems. As a client site develops ALS can re-scan developments and easily update your process model to reflect changes.

CLASH DETECTION

A 3D Model serves multiple purposes in the battle of saving time and capital for everyday procedures and for future projects. New project work always has a multitude of design hurdles, including how it will fit and tie into your existing brownfield site, the relationship between new plants with your existing, remembering to take into account even the smallest of these hurdles.

Modelling out both your existing plant and the new project including ground data, steel work, walkways, cable trays, fences, buildings, pipework and equipment enables a full accurate picture of how this new project work will fit and tie into its surroundings, with the security of ind that it will be a clash free design for the first time.

PROJECT WORK

Advanced 3D Laser Solutions Ltd (ALS) bring together services beyond those often considered by clients as available with 3D technologies. Unlike traditional drawings, a 3D process model represents a principle file that enables many ongoing applications client can select as being appropriate to their business.
